Thirty years of service — ready to lead Marion County

From Marion County deputy to Southport Police Chief, Thomas Vaughn's career has prepared him for the office of Sheriff.

In 1997, Thomas Vaughn pinned on a Marion County deputy's badge. Nearly three decades later — including more than a decade as Chief of Police in Southport — he is asking Marion County voters for the chance to serve as their next Sheriff.

His résumé is not theoretical. Vaughn has walked the same streets, answered the same radio calls, and carried the same weight of command decisions that define real law-enforcement leadership. He holds the Medal of Valor, the Life Saver Award, the Indiana Law Enforcement Herman Freed Leadership Award, and the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service.

As Sheriff, he will bring that experience to improving public safety, enhancing accountability, supporting deputies and civilian staff, and restoring public confidence in the agency. Marion County deserves a sheriff who has done the job at every level — and who still lives here, raises a family here, and answers to neighbors here.
