Who we are
This website is operated by the Committee to Elect Thomas Vaughn (the “Committee”) in support of Thomas Vaughn’s candidacy for Marion County Sheriff. When this policy says “we” or “us,” it means the Committee.
Information we collect
We only collect information you choose to give us, including:
- Volunteer sign-ups — name, email, phone, ZIP code, interests, and availability.
- Contact & endorsement forms — name, email, and the message or endorsement you submit.
- Event RSVPs — name, email, phone, and guest count.
- Newsletter — your email address (with double opt-in confirmation).
- Donations — name, mailing address, employer, and occupation, as required by Indiana campaign-finance law. Payment card details are processed securely by our payment provider (Stripe) and are never stored on our servers.
How we use it
- To coordinate volunteers, events, and campaign outreach.
- To respond to your messages and endorsements.
- To process and acknowledge contributions.
- To send campaign updates you’ve asked to receive (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- To meet legal and campaign-finance reporting obligations.
Campaign-finance disclosure
Indiana law (IC 3-9) requires campaigns to itemize and publicly report certain contributions, including the contributor’s name, address, employer, and occupation for contributions above the statutory thresholds. If you donate, some of your information may appear in public campaign-finance filings. The Committee treasurer administers these filings.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the campaign (for example, our payment processor and email provider), and only as needed to provide those services, or when required by law.
How we protect your information
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure payment handling. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect supporter data as a first-class priority.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from campaign email at any time using the link in any message.
- Access, correct, or delete your information by contacting us (see below). Some records tied to legal reporting may need to be retained.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
